Gufobyte SFX Lab: Retro Sound Generator

Make retro sound effects in seconds, right in your browser.

Click a generator, tweak the sliders and export a WAV. Gufobyte SFX Lab is a small sfxr-style synth built for game jams and prototypes. Everything runs locally: there is no install, no account and no network requests.

Features

• 15 generators: coin, jump, power-up, laser, explosion, hit, blip, bounce, teleport, magic, enemy, alarm, footstep, pickup, death, plus Random and Mutate
• 30 parameters: 6 waveforms (square, saw, triangle, sine, noise, metal), pitch slide and acceleration, vibrato, arpeggio, retrigger, ADSR-style envelope with punch, resonant low-pass, high-pass, flanger, bit-crush
• Export WAV: 44.1 kHz, 16-bit, mono, optionally normalized to −1 dBFS
• Presets as JSON: copy, paste, share links, history of your last 12 sounds
• Import the presets shipped with the Retro 8-bit SFX Pack (200 sounds) and remix any of them
• Keyboard: SPACE play · M mutate · R random
• Works on desktop and mobile; an offline version is included

The sounds you make are yours

Use the exported WAV files in any project, commercial included, with no attribution needed.

If the download button does nothing inside the page, open the tool in fullscreen or use the offline version (some browsers block downloads from embedded frames).

How it was made

The same GBSynth engine that generated our Retro 8-bit SFX Pack, ported 1:1 to JavaScript (identical output). The code was written with the help of an AI assistant (see the AI disclosure).
